TEAM KOLORA

Michelle and Peter have been surrounded by horses most of their lives, so it is only fitting that they make it their day job. So, when Pete finishes the racehorses in the morning, he likes to fill in the rest of the day schooling  our amazing team of show jumpers. Michelle and her three gorgeous daughters all come down and ride as well. It’s a serious team effort to get over 15 horses tacked up, ridden and washed.

In her career Michelle’s highlights have been competing in two World Equestrian Games and also in a World Cup Final, both representing Australia at the highest level in showjumping. Both horses Odds On and KS Double Up were ex-race horses!!!   Peter also got the opportunity to compete at an international level, not only at the World Equestrian Games, but also at the 2008 Beijing Olympics with his now retired mare “KS Genoa”. In 2009, Peter and Genoa went on to win the highest prize money in international showjumping, at the New Zealand ‘Horse of The Year’ show. Genoa has since gone on to produce some beautiful progeny for us.

With the same passion for horses as their parents, Maleah, Emily and Elkee have all grown up with the opportunity to ride and compete.

Maleah has achieved some phenomenal things for her age and has been in many height classes where she is the youngest competing. She was able to compete overseas in Ireland for Duffy Sport Horses which has been a highlight of her career so far. Along with winning at the Australian Jumping Champions in the 2017 Children's Championships. She has also won the Rising Stars award at the 2017 & 2018 Equestrian Queensland Awards Night. You will see big things from her in the future we are sure of it!

Emily and Elkee also have the same love for horses running in their blood. They are only young and still learning but they are extremely talented for their age and have some great horses under them. The twins have done incredibly well this year and hopefully future seasons will bring some new challenges and new opportunities for them both.

RE-TRAINING RACEHORSES

With a constantly changing team of horses, we like to find some new talent that we can bring on ourselves and find the most suitable homes.  With the ones we do take on, we find some absolute naturals who take it all in their stride. It’s a true testament to the breed, as thoroughbreds are incredibly versatile and such astonishing athletes.

In 2019 we were able to compete a few ex race horses and one of our personal favourites would have to be KS WISDOM (Raced as MERLIN THE WIZARD). He is 17hh of legs and has plenty of natural talent. Under Michelle and Petes guidance he has progressed into a very agile and competitive show jumper. He is still young but showing us he will one day make it to Grand Prix / World Cup level. Not bad for a slow racehorse whose career ended at 4 years old!
